Mapping Our World

Third grade Social Studies standards really focus on maps, citizenship, understanding cultures, and beginning economics. We have a new Social Studies curriculum which was just adopted by the district this school year called Studies Weekly. This is actually a newspaper that the students will be reading and utilizing in conjunction with online and teacher made supplemental materials. 

Something that we will also be starting this year is a rotation for Social Studies. My peer teacher, Mr. Cooper, and I will be rotating our classrooms for Science and Social Studies. So, he will actually be teaching the Social Studies material and I the Science. That being said, we will still be incorporating different things from the Social Studies curriculum into the Reading and Writing blocks in my classroom.
